The Long Night

"You arrived in silence and without warning,
  You took everything away from me, except for this empty vessel.
  But I fear you not, for I know that after this Night, 
  another day will surely come."

This first illustration of Corvo was supposed to be at first, a scenery at sunset where he takes off and brings the night. But in the end  I really wanted to introduce this character at nighttime and try to convey, partially at least, the symbolic nature of the mythological crow, particularly as the messenger and guide that is capable of traversing multiple realms.

Tools: Waterproof indian ink, W&N drawing inks, copic multiliner: 0.3, Dr. Ph Martins bleed proof white, glue and box cutter. 

Contest: In this drawing I used negative space for the first time and it was also my first attempt at a night scene where I mixed color and black ink. The colored part was supposed to emphasize the character as well as the foreground, giving the feeling that "Corvo" is about to enter this night time world that is like a bridge to somewhere else. I actually did this part in another sheet, cut it and glued to the night scene. The night sky was again my first attempt using white on black to create a star sky.
